The Yale University School of Art has had critic and curator Robert Storr at its helm as dean. Storr is stepping down and will be succeeded by the first ever female dean at the school of art, Marta Kuzma.
Since opening in 1869, the school describes itself as the nation's first art school connected with an institution of higher learning.
Kuzma has high praise from many, currently holding a position as the vice chancellor and rector of the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
Before becoming head of the Royal Institute of Art, a school of undergraduate and postgraduate study in visual art and architecture, in September 2014, Ms. Kuzma served as director of the Office for Contemporary Art Norway and was the establishing director of the Soros Center for Contemporary Art in Kiev, Ukraine.
Her experience also includes a stint as artistic director of the Washington Project for the Arts, in Washington, D.C., and as head of the international exhibitions program at the International Center of Photography in New York City.
