The Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver's Emerging Artist’s Prize is open to artwork in all media by artists residing in the Lower Mainland. Five finalists will be selected by a jury of art professionals to take part in an exhibition of their work at Access Gallery, an artist-run centre in Vancouver. The winning artist will receive a $3000 cash award.
Eligibility

The prize defines an emerging artist as someone who has completed training or an apprenticeship in the Visual Arts, is in the first five years of an artistic career, and dedicated to the professional practice of art.

Artists must have had at least one exhibition (after having completed education or training) at an artist-run space, public gallery, or commercial gallery.

Artists must currently live in the Lower Mainland. Finalists will need to demonstrate proof of residence.

Students and members of CASV are not eligible.

Applicants must meet all criteria to be considered for the prize.
Selection of Recipients

A panel of distinguished members of the art community will jury the competition and make final selections.
How to Apply

Upload at least 5, but no more than 10 images of your artwork to the competition website (see "Submit Now" below).

Images must be at least 72 dpi, 1024 x 768 pixels per inch.

Include a list of visuals with title, date, medium, dimensions, and a brief description of each work.

Submit an artist statement (200 words maximum) and CV (1 page maximum).
Deadline

Submissions must be received by Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

The Winner will be announced at the opening reception of the finalists’ exhibition in June 2012.
