I want to share a quick story with you.

For those of you who don't know, when I'm not living and breathing theartmarket.ca, I'm working in a commercial art gallery. A gentleman visited the gallery yesterday, meandered around, spent some time with the art and approached me before he left.

"You're so fortunate to work in an art gallery," he said.

"I know, I love it," I replied.

"No, but really," he continued, "everyone who comes to your place of work wants to be there. You work in such a positive environment because gallery goers are here out of choice. It's not a requirement. They're not renewing a license, paying taxes or, heaven forbid, shopping for a suit. Most people are just here for a look, others are decorating, collecting, investing (or a combination thereof)."

"You know, I never considered that before," I answered. "May I ask what it is you do?"

he paused before sighing, "I'm a dentist."
