Swarm is an annual festival of artist run culture organized by the Pacific Association of Artist Run Centres. Started by PAARC in 1999 (we know – retro), Swarm began as THE event to mark the start of Vancouver’s artist-run centre programming season.
So what’s it all about?
Swarm is a multi-night event, that show casing the cities best artist-run initiatives, small space galleries, public projects, artist collectives, etc.
On Thursday, September 8th, 2011 swarm-goers enjoyed these amazing spaces:
Belkin Art Gallery
Van. Chinese Garden
VIVO Media Arts
On Friday, September 9th swarm-goers (aka theartmarket.ca crew) spent the night enjoying these great spaces:
The Gam Gallery
New Forms Festival
The Storyboard Label
Getting out to visit artist drivin organizations is not only a great way to show your support for the artists in your community, but also a great way to often find fantastic art at great prices.
Big thanks to everyone who opened up their doors again for Swarm 12!
