We're tickled pink by the new sculpture recently installed at the Hazelton Hotel in Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood. People all too often dismiss this posh part of town as more of a mainstream shopping destination rather than a district know for cutting edge art. However, there are a number of terrific galleries on these streets and one hotel in particular that is now showing its fun and creative side.

Understanding auction season

Last night Scotiabank Nuit Blanche lit up Toronto from sundown to sun-up. This annual public art event attracted thousands of people who hit the streets in a celebration of Contemporary art. Though it threatened to rain that didn’t stop the massive crowds from pouring into downtown. Here’ a quick rundown of my experiences.

Sunday, august 26, Gallery Gevik, a well known Toronto gallery, reported a break-in at their space on Hazelton Avenue in the Yorkville neighborhood of Toronto.

Three paintings were stolen.

 Among the three were two paintings by members of the group of seven, Frank Johnston and Arthur Lismer.
