gallery profiles
what is a gallery?
in short - a gallery is an institution that exhibits and sells art. galleries can be artist-run centres and can exist online.
what is the difference between a museum and a gallery?
the main difference is that galleries are commercial organizations with works for sale. museums rarely, if ever, sell art. however, it is up to the organization creating the profile to decide which category they fall under.
How would you classify a not-for-profit artist run centre with a commercial gallery?
we don't classify - that's up to you! our advanced search function allows you to search artist run centres under gallery profiles, but if your not-for-profit performs other functions you may want to sign up as a foundation using a different email address.
can i have a profile if i'm not from canada but i sell art in canada?
at the moment, only galleries located in canada can create profiles as our search criteria require users to enter a province. don't forget you can still create an art lover profile!
what do i do if we have a director but not an entire board?
no problem, just enter the directors name in the text field
do i have to fill out fields like: board of directors, gallery statement, and featured artists, etc?
no, only the fields marked with a star are mandatory however, the more information you give the more likely others will find your profile.
why do i need to enter a contact name if it does not appear on my profile?
should we ever need to contact you, we would know who to address.
